It takes one person in your life to make a difference.
One person that looks at you with compassion.
One person who connects to you,
And offers you a moment or two of acceptance.
I had that person.
When I was growing up in a house that felt unsafe, he walked with me.
He took an interest in knowing who I was.
He showed me kindness and gave me a sense of belonging.
He unknowingly helped the sadness pass through me and gave me a deep feeling of joy when fear was always present.
I saw good in the world, and it opened my eyes to the possibility beyond my situation.
He didn’t have much but that meant nothing to me, he gave me his presence and I gave him my trust.
